17th LDPE Plant Improvement Conference
ECI was once again proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the Uhde High Pressure Technologies 17th LDPE Plant Improvement Conference. Held in Riga, Latvia between the 17th and 18th June, including a Burckhardt Compression LDPE Technology Day on 19th June, the conference brought together 200 LDPE plant operators, key equipment suppliers, and service providers, enabling an open exchange of ideas and challenges as well as updates on technical advancements in the field of operating, maintaining and continuous improvement of high-pressure LDPE and EVA plants. Presentations focussed on key topics ranging from energy-saving and emission reduction strategies, safety-related decomposition and relief processes, and developments in state-of-the-art equipment best practices.
A World of High-Pressure Polyethylene beyond LDPE and EVA
ECI’s Director of Business Development, Abhi Shivraj gave a presentation on ‘A World of High-Pressure Polyethylene beyond LDPE and EVA’, outlining the competitive advantages for producers looking to diversify their product capabilities. LDPE and low/mid % EVA are increasingly becoming low-margin commodity products, meaning product flexibility to ensure plants can produce versatile high-value, high-margin products for range of applications is essential to ensuring plant viability and investment. ECI’s technology offers unmatched capacity and product capability across a range of High-Pressure Polyethylene products, including acrylate and acid co-polymers.
Plant Improvement Alliance
Together with Burckhardt Compression and UHDE High Pressure Technologies, ECI’s Director of High-Pressure Polyethylene Business, Chris Brock, showcased our innovative approach to providing a total plant health check with a presentation on the Plant Improvement Alliance. Bringing together the three specialists in the LDPE field, the Plant Improvement Alliance provides specialist expertise across all aspects of LDPE high pressure equipment, process technology, and design. The presentation highlighted the capabilities of each member company and the ways our areas of expertise across can be combined to provide bespoke solutions.
ECI’s Mechanical Engineering Subject Matter Expert, Chris Willy, then presented a case study of the Plant Improvement Alliance in action; working together to successfully evaluate the Compressors, Reactor, and High-Pressure Valves for an operating LDPE plant. Synergy between the Plant Improvement Alliance members aided in rapid execution of analysis and resulted in improved delivery of the required services. The conference was a huge success, offering unparalleled networking opportunities and interesting updates from key players in the industry. Social events including a beach volleyball tournament and a conference dinner in the Town Hall Square showed off the best of Riga, and we were treated to some spectacular views of the Baltic Sea. ECI has been a long term sponsor of the event and we are already looking forward to returning to the 18th LDPE Plant Improvement Conference next year!
